Thomas Duis

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, pianist Thomas Duis studied in Wiesbaden, Hannover and in Leeds, England. He won numerous prizes at International Competitions in Europe (ARD-Munich, Premio Tomassoni-Cologne, Gian Battista Viotti-Vercelli-Italy, Maria Callas-Athens-Greece), Australia (Sydney), South Africa (Unisa-Pretoria) and the USA (Maryland, Gina Bachauer-Utah).
In 1986 he received the gold medal at the Arthur Rubinstein Master Competition in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Thomas Duis has given concerts worldwide and held recording contracts with EMI-Electrola, MDG, Capriccio, CPO, Orfeo, Telos.
Since 1994 he teaches in Graz, Austria and since 1998 in Saarbrücken. Some of his students have won prizes in International competitions and hold professorships at music universities.
In 2007 Thomas Duis was awarded “Officier dans l‘ Ordre des Palmes Académiques” by the French Government.
