Omer Meir Wellber, Conductor

Omer Wellber, born in Israel, is internationally recognized as an exceptional talent. Recently he has appeared with the London Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Bavarian State Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, City of Birmingham Symphony, Sveriges Radios Symfoniorkester and RAI Torino. He is a regular guest conductor at the Israeli Opera, Semperoper Dresden and Bavarian State Opera.

Since 2009, Wellber has been Music Director of the Raanana Symphonette. He opened 2016/17 with a new production of Strauss’ Salome at the Semperoper Dresden. In February 2017 he published his first book, together with German author and journalist Inge Kloepfer – “Fear, Risk and Love – Moments with Mozart”. When the Israel Philharmonic appeared at the Dresdner Musikfestspiele in 2016, Wellber conducted all three concerts. During 2008-2010 he was assistant to Daniel Barenboim at the Berliner Staatsoper and La Scala in Milan, and in 2010-2014 he was Music Director at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia.
