Haran Meltzer is a Principal Cellist of the Israel Philharmonic. He has performed as soloist with the Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta. He has appeared a few more times with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Camerata Jerusalem, the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva, the Tel-Aviv Soloists Ensemble and the Ashdod Symphony Orchestra.
Haran won the first prizes in the Aviv Competition (Israel 2018), Davidov Competition (Latvia 2018) and Gabrielli Competition (Germany 2019). He is a recipient of Scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation since 2007, and from "Secrets of Culture" (Zefunot Tarbut) Foundation since 2009.
Haran has played chamber music with musicians such as Itzhak Perlman, Miriam Fried, Guy Braunstein, Hagai Shaham, Amihai Grosz, Zvi Plesser, Ohad Ben-Ari and Alon Goldstein. He has played in masterclasses with Frans Helmerson, Gary Hoffman, Jens Peter Maintz, Wolfgang Schmidt, Ralph Kirshbaum, Uzi Wiesel, Hillel Zori, Paul Katz, Timothy Eddy and Lynn Harrell.
He studied with Luba Rabin at the Kfar Saba Conservatory, and with Zvi Plesser at the Israel Conservatory of Music. He also studied with Emanuele Silvestri and Felix Nemirovsky. He continues his studies with Claudio Bohórquez. at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin.
Haran plays on a cello and a bow loaned to him by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation.
